Tom Edelmann has over 40 years of experience in the practice of law. His experience in estate planning and fiduciary law enables him to assist clients in their estate planning.
In his first twelve years of practice, Tom handled a variety of matters at a general practice law firm in Clayton, including civil litigation, appellate work, and document preparation with emphases on governmental entities, corporate and other business entities, real estate and estate planning. He briefed and argued cases on appeal to the Missouri Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Missouri, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He also prepared wills and trust instruments for both clients of modest means and for clients with high net worth.
Tom left private practice to become Trust Counsel for St. Louis County Bank (which was soon acquired by Commerce Bank, N.A.) and held that position for over twenty years, after which he served as Trust Counsel at Fifth Third Bank Investment Advisors in St. Louis. As Trust Counsel, he advised department heads and staff on issues related to trust relationships, and he worked with attorneys in private practice on matters regarding their clients’ estate plans involving the banks in a fiduciary capacity. Tom returned to the practice of law with MGD Law after retiring from U.S. Bank in St. Louis, where he held the position of Senior Trust Officer and administered trust accounts and investment-management accounts for clients with high net worth.
Tom has served as a volunteer with numerous charitable, professional, and civic organizations.
